Using a lectern

Please note:
The following content is provided by IT Services. Please contact them direct if you have any queries about lectern equipment, or call 123 from the classroom if you have an urgent technical issue while teaching.

If your role includes using the lectern equipment in UWE teaching spaces, we recommend you watch the three short user guide video clips. They are an overview of the lectern equipment used at UWE, and will help you get familiar with how it all works. You will find variations in the setups depending on the room or area, but the important thing to note is they all work in the same way.

Access the lectern user guide videos

(The link takes you to UWE’s MyLearning site, where UWE staff can self-enrol on the course).

These videos cover frequently asked questions and common troubleshooting queries, such as:

  • How to power up different PC models, and different lectern control panels
  • The different Microphones you may come across, and how to switch on and un-mute them
  • Other functions you may wish to use – Visualiser, using your own laptop
  • What to do if you hear no sound, or see no image projected
  • Calling IT Services in the event of an issue with the equipment during a lecture

Important: If you are using a new room, we recommend visiting before a teaching session to familiarise yourself with the equipment, and if you are looking to use a new function in the room, please visit for a run-through first.

The link to the videos can also be found on the LIU’s Support page, along with other key contacts and resources.
