Panopto quizzes are a great feature, allowing you to add interactivity to an otherwise passive recording, consolidate students’ learning and measure engagement. However, it is important to understand a little bit about the link between Panopto and Blackboard to make sure they run smoothly.
Normally, you would keep your Panopto recording in a module folder within Panopto, and link to it from your Blackboard site. The default permissions for the recording mean that anyone on the module can view it, and because they access it through Blackboard they are already logged in.
However, there may be occasions when you need people who are not enrolled at UWE to view the recording. Perhaps they belong to a partner institution, or they are not yet enrolled but you need them to watch the recording before they start their course.
You can enable this by going into the Share settings and selecting ‘Anyone with the link’, then emailing the link to them.
This is fine – as long as the recording does not contain a Panopto quiz which you need them to complete.
This is because Panopto records the results of the quiz against the username of the person logged in. If they are not logged in there is nothing for Panopto to record the results against, so the quiz is simply skipped.
If you need external participants to complete a quiz, you will need to use another method such as Mentimeter.
