BABEL is a Learning Innovation Unit that fosters creativity and critical thinking in students and academics across UWE and beyond. Through our journal, we provide a platform for students to showcase their design projects and analytical papers, alongside insightful interviews and feature articles about current events or themes in the industry and education.

We encourage students, alumni and academics of all backgrounds and disciplines that bear a connection with architecture, design or research to submit their work and ideas for articles to be considered. This is not limited to new content, and we endorse submissions of existing projects or written work.

Publishing on BABEL offers a unique opportunity to:

gain valuable experience in the academic publishing process

share your work and ideas with a wider audience reaching beyond the bounds of the university

receive constructive feedback from experts in the field

We currently welcome submissions for written text, illustrated articles and other visual media that best represent your ideas and can be showcased on the website. Regardless of what subject you study, we encourage submissions of any projects, research or essays for our project showcase and thought-provoking articles and ideas, exhibition, events or study trips can be submitted for our student blog or articles pages. There are no limits, and all content suggestions will be thoroughly reviewed and discussed.

To make things consistent, we do have some guidelines on submitting work:

Send all submissions in digital format to babeljournaluwe@gmail.com.
